The Coordinating Council for Women in History (CCWH) offers awards that advance women’s history and support women in the historical profession. The awards fund dissertation research and writing, recognize journal articles, and help scholars whose careers have not followed traditional academic paths continue historical scholarship and professional projects. They also honor mentorship and organizational service benefiting women and LGBTQ scholars and students.
The named awards reflect distinct priorities: the Catherine Prelinger Award supports nontraditional scholars, the graduate fellowships support dissertation progress, and the article prizes recognize published scholarship. The Sandra Trudgen Dawson Award supports research, teaching, and service that connects historians, including collection visits, curriculum development, conferences, and workshops.
