Description
CDBG Affordable Housing PY24 supports eligible affordable housing activities through Rhode Island’s Community Development Block Grant program. The Rhode Island Executive Office of Housing administers the state program with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Its goals are to strengthen neighborhoods and primarily benefit low- and moderate-income residents, defined as households earning at or below 80% of Area Median Income.
Housing activities described in Rhode Island’s CDBG guidance include acquisition and rehabilitation for permanent housing, conversion of nonresidential structures, homeownership assistance, residential water and sewer hookups, and new housing construction by community-based development organizations. Projects must meet HUD’s national objectives and document the required community benefit. Affordable Housing PY24 is a distinct rolling opportunity, separate from the annual competitive round and Housing Rehabilitation PY24.
