Description
Rhode Island’s Executive Office of Housing administers this affordable housing opportunity through the state Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It supports the development and preservation of affordable housing in municipalities that do not receive CDBG allocations directly from HUD.
CDBG aims to strengthen neighborhoods and principally benefit low- and moderate-income residents, defined as households earning at or below 80% of Area Median Income. Each funded activity must meet a HUD national objective. Affordable housing applications follow a rolling process, separate from the annual competitive cycle for public facilities, improvements and services.
