Description
Blueprint to Build is administered by the Kansas Department of Commerce through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. It helps small communities construct new public community centers that address local needs. The program provides pre-designed, modern, energy-efficient blueprints already paid for with CDBG funds, reducing costly design work and long planning timelines.
Applicants choose from three community center sizes, with optional gym(s) and/or a pool. The approved designs include spaces for community gatherings, fitness, telemedicine, food service, and storm shelter safety. Funding supports new construction using these designs rather than unrestricted facility projects. Some flexibility is available for additional features, but major design modifications are not allowed.
