Description
The Rhode Island Executive Office of Housing administers this housing rehabilitation opportunity through the state’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It supports rehabilitation of residential properties in communities that do not receive their own CDBG allocations. Municipalities may carry out activities themselves or work with subrecipients, including nonprofits.
The program is intended to improve housing and strengthen Rhode Island neighborhoods, principally for residents with low or moderate incomes. Each funded activity must meet a HUD national objective; the state prioritizes activities benefiting low- and moderate-income residents, defined as households at or below 80% of Area Median Income.
