    Description

The Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law (CDDRL) at Stanford University offers residential fellowships for doctoral students at the dissertation write-up stage and recent Ph.D. graduates. The program supports research on democracy, development, evaluating the efficacy of democracy promotion, and rule of law. Fellows spend nine months, September–June, developing their projects alongside other fellows, resident faculty, and research staff.

The fellowship combines research and writing with faculty mentoring, seminars, conferences, and workshops. Fellows are expected to advance dissertation or book chapters and journal articles, share insights with public audiences, and contribute a CDDRL working paper. Within the broader cohort, named fellowships support research on rule of law and modern Israel.
