    Description

The Celiac Disease Foundation administers this award to promote interest in celiac disease research among medical students, graduate students, and medical residents. It funds a mentored, 10-week research experience at sites throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada, with the goal of developing the next generation of celiac disease researchers. Projects should contribute knowledge to the field while giving trainees a meaningful research experience.

Mentorship is central to the program: research work is paired with technical and scientific training, direct mentor interaction, and participation in conferences and laboratory meetings. The award honors Dr. Jocelyn Silvester, the inaugural recipient of the Foundation’s Young Investigator Prize, which recognizes exceptional achievements early in a celiac disease research career.
