Description
The Federal Aviation Administration’s Center of Excellence for Alternative Jet Fuels and Environment (AJFE), also known as the Aviation Sustainability Center (ASCENT), supports research addressing existing and future aviation sustainability challenges. Its work advances sustainable aviation fuels, reduces aviation emissions, improves aircraft technologies, and analyzes aviation’s environmental impacts while maintaining safety and efficiency in air transportation.
Research areas include alternative jet fuel testing and evaluation, emissions and noise reduction, air quality assessment, climate change impacts, and aviation systems modeling. The center brings together universities, government agencies, and industry partners. The AJFE opportunity was awarded to ASCENT in 2013, and new grant opportunities under this program are restricted to its university members.
