The Administration for Community Living (ACL), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, intends to support establishment of one center for independent living in Guam. The center will provide, expand, and improve independent living services while supporting the network of centers for independent living.
At a minimum, the funded center must provide information and referral, independent living skills training, peer counseling, and individual and systems advocacy. It must also provide services supporting transitions from nursing homes and other institutions into the community, assistance for people at risk of entering institutions, and transitions of youth to postsecondary life. The opportunity focuses on geographic areas identified as unserved or underserved and requires alignment with the relevant State Plan for Independent Living.
