Description
The Texas Historical Commission (THC) administers these annual grants using National Park Service Historic Preservation Fund money. The program helps participating Texas communities develop and sustain local preservation programs. Projects must connect to the statewide comprehensive preservation planning process and support the preservation of historic resources.
Funding priorities include historic-resource surveys and inventories, National Register nominations, local preservation plans, preservation ordinances, design guidelines, and research into local preservation incentives. Other eligible work includes educational activities, walking or driving tours, architectural drawings, condition assessments, rehabilitation or restoration of qualifying National Register properties, and preservation training. Projects related to communities and histories underrepresented in preservation receive special consideration.
