Description
The Certified Local Government (CLG) Program, administered by the N.H. Department of Natural & Cultural Resources’ Division of Historical Resources, supports New Hampshire municipalities in identifying, evaluating, protecting, and promoting properties significant for their historic, architectural, and archaeological value. The program provides technical assistance and access to competitive matching grants for a variety of preservation activities, including historical surveys, National Register nominations, preservation planning, and public education projects. CLG status also gives municipalities a formal role in the National Register nomination process and fosters integration of preservation into local planning and development.
