This priority of CERV’s European Remembrance call is managed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). It supports remembrance of non-Jewish Holocaust victims and victims of other genocides, war crimes and crimes against humanity in 20th-century Europe, particularly LGBTIQ+ people and other overlooked persecuted communities. Its goals are to strengthen democratic resilience, civic engagement and a common European culture of remembrance.
Projects may examine perpetrators, collaborators and bystanders, develop artistic memory projects and memory activism, deliver awareness-raising and training, or digitise historical materials and witness testimonies for education. Priorities include countering denial, distortion, trivialisation, false comparisons and divergent national narratives. Projects focusing on Roma victims belong under GENCRIME-1; remembrance of the Holocaust against Jewish people belongs under HOLOCAUSTJEW, not this priority.
