Description
CFCI Emergency Grants, administered by the Community Foundation of Central Illinois, help organizations in the foundation’s service area address unforeseen events that significantly interrupt primary and essential services. Formerly known as Opportunity Grants, the program focuses on the immediate problem preventing an organization from serving the people who rely on it.
The foundation illustrates the program’s purpose with a shelter that cannot serve patrons because of a bed bug infestation. Emergency funding may help address that disruption so services can resume. The program sits within CFCI’s broader grantmaking approach, which emphasizes community needs, clear objectives and measurable outcomes, and collaboration through partnerships and shared resources.
