    Description

The Charles H. Sternberg Scholarship is administered by the Association of Applied Paleontological Sciences (AAPS) to assist graduate-level students researching macro vertebrate fossils. Open to students attending universities worldwide, it emphasizes practical fieldwork and fossil collecting. Scholarship funds are intended primarily for collecting and preparing macro fossils, rather than research conducted solely away from the field.

Created in 1992, the scholarship honors Charles Hazelius Sternberg, the patriarch of a family of commercial fossil collectors active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many specimens he collected are now displayed in museums around the world. The award reflects that collecting legacy and is one of two annual AAPS graduate scholarships.
