Description
The Elsevier Foundation runs the Chemistry for Climate Action Challenge with Elsevier’s Chemistry journals. It funds individuals and organizations developing green and sustainable chemistry solutions for pressing sustainability challenges in the Global South. The Challenge aims to advance climate action and gender equity through work with practical benefits for local communities.
The program focuses on early-stage or proof-of-concept projects that can grow beyond the prize period. Examples include waste utilization, alternative energy, climate change mitigation, biodiversity and ecosystem health, sustainable agriculture, water management, community empowerment, and health and well-being. Proposals must show why their chemistry approach is innovative and how it can be implemented, replicated and scaled in a low- or middle-income country.
