Description
The Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) School of Mathematics offers one Chern Fellowship each year for focused, uninterrupted research in mathematics and theoretical computer science. The program welcomes work across all mathematical subject areas and gives the selected fellow the opportunity to devote full time to research without teaching or administrative responsibilities.
The fellowship supports a research residency of 2–11 months at IAS in Princeton, New Jersey, with access to on-campus housing and institutional resources. It is intended for experienced researchers at least five years beyond their Ph.D., with applications strongly encouraged from mid-career scientists 5–15 years from their doctorate. The residency supports engagement with fundamental research questions, collaboration, and intellectual exchange within the mathematical sciences.
