Description
The Chesapeake Bay Implementation Grant (CBIG), administered by the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), funds projects that address water quality issues in Delaware’s portion of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. The program emphasizes the reduction of nutrient and sediment loads through the implementation of best management practices (BMPs) and supports partnerships among local governments, nonprofits, community groups, and other stakeholders. The goal is to achieve measurable progress towards the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement and Delaware’s Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) targets.
Projects may target both point and nonpoint source pollution from agricultural, urban, and natural landscapes, and are encouraged to demonstrate innovative, sustainable, and transferable approaches. Proposals that foster community engagement, leverage additional resources, or focus on historically underserved communities are particularly encouraged.
