The Chesapeake Bay Trust administers this program with funding from Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis. It supports projects that reduce pollutants entering local waterways, deliver cost-effective reforestation and greening, and increase protected forested land. The goals are improved water and air quality, increased habitat and tree cover, and reduced flooding and erosion.
Six tracks support watershed planning, construction-ready restoration design, restoration implementation, permanent forest protection, afforestation/reforestation, and combined restoration and forestry projects. The partners encourage projects connected to priority watersheds and existing stewardship efforts. Forestry priorities, in order, are afforestation, forest preservation, and reforestation. Applications directly from or engaging communities underrepresented in environmental work are strongly encouraged.
