Summary: Supports translation of published USGS science into communication products for Chesapeake Bay resource managers and decision-makers.
Key Information: Applicants must be participating partners of the Chesapeake Watershed Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit.
USGS Chesapeake Bay studies seeks a Chesapeake Watershed Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) partner to strengthen science communication supporting watershed decision-making. The partner will work closely with USGS scientists to translate peer-reviewed journal articles and formal USGS reports into accessible communication products, including USGS-approved fact sheets. Priorities include clean water for people and communities, protection of fish and wildlife supporting outdoor recreation, and state and local partner needs.
The collaboration covers key messages and management implications, communication storyboards, conceptual graphics, schematics, synthesis text, and editing for nontechnical audiences. Deliverables must draw on published research; producing the underlying formal reports and journal articles is outside this agreement’s scope. USGS will participate substantially in design, layout, and science translation, and all communication products require USGS review and approval.
