    Description

Established in 2023, this joint CHEST and APCCMPD fellowship supports the development of medical educators in pulmonary, critical care, and pulmonary/critical care medicine. It pairs one fellow-in-training with an established medical educator at another institution for a year of training and guided scholarship. Funding supports teaching-skills or medical education research courses, teaching experiences, a medical education research project, and protected time for the external mentor.

The program focuses on fellows whose institutions have limited formal medical education training, resources, or mentors. It recognizes how diverse experiences, career choices, values, and worldviews strengthen medical education. The fellow and mentor develop a one-year curriculum and research project aligned with the fellow’s interests, preparing the fellow for an academic medical educator career and future mentorship of other trainees.
