The Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance (PeDRA) and the National Eczema Association (NEA) jointly run the Childhood Eczema Challenge Grant to support targeted research on pediatric eczema. The program addresses unanswered questions and the substantial burdens that remain for children and their families despite therapeutic advances. It also supports early- and mid-career scientists building research careers in this field.
Research priorities encompass differences in eczema presentation, treatment response, and comorbidities; better identification and treatment across health care settings; understanding and reducing patient and caregiver burdens; and primary prevention. Priority goes to broadly applicable clinical or translational research using a patient-centered or comparative effectiveness framework. Applications advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion are encouraged.
