Description
The Children's Justice Act supports programs across Arizona that improve the investigation, prosecution, management, and judicial handling of child abuse and neglect cases while limiting additional trauma to child victims. Its focus includes child sexual abuse and exploitation, suspected abuse- or neglect-related fatalities, and, in some cases, children with disabilities or serious health problems who have experienced abuse or neglect.
Authorized by the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, the program is managed in Arizona by the Governor's Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) through a competitive grant process. It encourages multidisciplinary approaches to investigations and supports the creation and operation of child and family advocacy centers.
