Children’s Leukemia Research Association (CLRA) funds promising leukemia and blood cancer research by doctors nationwide. Its Research Grant Program seeks to identify the causes of leukemia, improve treatment options, and ultimately find a cure. Projects may be exploratory or build on earlier findings, with an emphasis on work that is not duplicated elsewhere. CLRA’s Medical Advisory Committee of internationally known hematologists reviews proposals annually.
Supported research includes studies of leukemia-related tumors to identify novel therapies, investigations into why some children do not remain in remission, and targeted therapies for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Other funded work examines how a novel non-coding RNA molecule influences AML development. Across nearly 60 years, CLRA has supported research at more than 55 institutions.
