Summary: Supports a common EU platform for evaluating AI chips and racks and pilot deployments of European AI compute systems.
Key Information: Participation is restricted to protect European digital infrastructure and supply chains, with ownership-control declarations required for participants not validated as public bodies.
Chips Joint Undertaking administers this Digital Europe Programme Grant for Procurement as Stream B of the AI chips and systems for EU compute infrastructure initiative. It supports a common EU evaluation platform for AI chips and racks, alongside procurement of pilot racks. The platform will validate Stream A systems against workloads and benchmarks, producing transparent key performance indicators and benchmark reports to inform Chips JU selection and procurement decisions.
The topic also supports the first pilot deployments of European AI compute systems validated for EU sovereign partitions of AI infrastructure. Structured collaboration between buyers and suppliers is intended to support deployment, integration and optimisation, strengthen demand for European AI chips and racks, and help create a market for deployment-ready solutions. Its overarching goal is greater EU technological sovereignty across the AI compute stack for European datacentres.
