Summary: A vocal chamber music festival offering individual singers workshops, rehearsals, and performances with Chanticleer and guest faculty.
Key Information: Open to domestic and international individual singers aged 18+ at program start, across all experience levels.
Presented by Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, this three-day festival culminates the Choral Art Residency in Banff National Park. It brings 40 festival participants together with Chanticleer, guest faculty, and the residency’s 12 participants for shared music-making. The program focuses on developing singing skills, gaining performance experience, and expanding connections within the choral community.
Participants take workshops with Chanticleer, composer Sarah Quartel, soprano Andrea Haines, Tim Shantz, and Michael Zaugg. They also rehearse and perform in a variety of configurations alongside Chanticleer and residency participants. Although framed as a festival for emerging ensemble singers, it welcomes individual singers of all experience levels.
