--- ## Description The Christopher Emmet Hallowell Fund, managed by the Adirondack Foundation, supports families in the Adirondack region who are caring for severely ill children or young adults. The fund is designed to help with incidental and unexpected expenses that arise during the care of a seriously ill child or young adult, such as travel, lost wages, and other non-medical costs. The goal is to ease the financial burden, so families can focus on providing love and support during challenging times. --- ## Due Dates - Applications are accepted on a rolling basis; there is no set deadline. --- ## Funding Amount - Grants typically range from $2,000 to $3,500 per award. - Funding is provided for one year, with the possibility to reapply annually for continued support. - Awarded amounts depend on family need, extenuating financial circumstances, and available fund resources at the time of application. --- ## Eligibility - Applicants must be families or individuals caring for a severely ill child or young adult. - The patient must reside in Clinton, Essex, or Franklin Counties in New York State. - Grants are intended for incidental and unexpected expenses (not for direct medical care or treatment). - Applicants may reapply annually for continued funding. - Financial assistance cannot be used for medical treatment or as a substitute for insurance. - A brief note from a medical professional explaining the need is recommended. - Applicants must provide copies of expense receipts if applicable. - No more than two adults per applicant may apply. --- ## Application Process 1. Required attachments include: - Previous year's income tax return (pages 1 & 2) - Itemized list of expected/actual expenses - Expense receipts or commitment to submit receipts - Note from a doctor or relevant third party - Completed IRS W-9 form 5. Await funding decision. 6. Recipients must provide a six-month report on the use and impact of the funds. 7.
