    Description

The Center for Hellenic Studies (CHS), Harvard University, and the Institute of Historical Research (IHR) of the National Hellenic Research Foundation in Athens offer a joint residential postdoctoral fellowship for the 2027–2028 academic year. The program supports ancient history, epigraphy, numismatics, and classical archaeology, especially color studies, iconography, funerary archaeology, and GIS.

Fellows spend sixteen weeks in Washington, DC, and four months (approximately eighteen weeks) in Athens. Projects should benefit from both institutions’ libraries and access to archives, artifacts, archaeological sites, or other material in and around Athens. Fellows devote their time to research and engage with local academic communities. The fellowship also offers opportunities to visit CHS Greece in Nafplio, present ongoing work, and connect with other fellows.
