Description
The Ciba Travel Awards in Green Chemistry are administered by the American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute (ACS GCI). They support undergraduate and graduate students studying at institutions in the United States who have research or educational interests in green chemistry and/or engineering. Recipients attend the annual Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference and present their work through an oral presentation or poster.
The awards are funded by interest income from the Ciba Green Chemistry Student Endowment, established in 2009. They reimburse conference-related travel rather than fund research directly, and recipients are recognized at the conference. The program defines green chemistry as the discovery and design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances.
