Description
This grant empowers K-12 classroom teachers in the United States and Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools to launch or enhance innovative STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs and activities. Sponsored by Ciena and administered by the AFCEA Educational Foundation, the program is designed to foster digital equality and support creative uses of technology—both hardware and software—in STEM education. Special emphasis is placed on proposals from schools with high economic need (over 50% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch), and on projects that incorporate distance or virtual learning. The initiative also encourages community engagement by inviting Ciena volunteers to participate in funded activities.
