Description
The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Fellowship supports highly qualified trainees in all areas of health research at the post-PhD or post-health professional degree stage. Its objectives are to recognize and fund academic health research trainees and develop a reliable supply of highly skilled researchers. Training may take place in Canada or abroad, preparing researchers for scientific, professional, and organizational leadership within and beyond health research.
As part of Tri-Agency funding harmonization, the fellowship was folded into the Canada Research Training Awards Suite effective with the fall 2025 competition. UBC’s Office of Research Services now provides institutional submission procedures under the Canada Postdoctoral Research Award (CPRA). The fellowship funding and eligibility rules below describe the previous competition, not confirmed terms for the anticipated cycle.
