The California Institute for Regenerative Medicine’s Data Science and Software Engineering Awards (INFR9) support development, maintenance, and extension of open source computational tools that overcome multimodal data integration bottlenecks. Projects should enable foundational research and early-stage therapeutic discovery, including identifying and validating therapeutic targets, biomarkers, and candidates.
This dry-lab program brings together regenerative medicine and computational or software engineering expertise. Funded projects must deliver adaptable, extensible, stand-alone software with utility beyond a single research question. Priorities include open and collaborative development, broadly applicable validated tools, and maximizing the value of CIRM-funded data. Projects must incorporate transparent development, community engagement, and plans for deployment, adoption, and sustainability. Wet-lab experimental biology and development of new data repositories are outside the program’s scope.
