Innovations for Poverty Action’s Citizen Security Research Initiative (CSRI) supports research to inform policies and programs for safer communities and stronger justice and law enforcement systems. Funded by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, the initiative supports rigorous impact evaluations, pilot studies, infrastructure and public goods projects, and foundational and contextual research.
CSRI prioritizes countering organized crime, combating drug trafficking and production, preventing crime and violence, and strengthening law enforcement and criminal justice institutions. It seeks actionable evidence for policy and programming, particularly studies that challenge common beliefs, pioneer innovative interventions, and address areas where little evidence currently exists.
