Description
The Chesapeake Bay Trust partners with the City of Gaithersburg to offer rebates for small-scale stormwater projects on private properties. The program supports rain barrels, cisterns, rain gardens, conservation landscaping, native tree planting and invasive tree removal, pavement removal, permeable pavers, and soil tests. These practices capture rooftop water, help rainfall soak into the ground, reduce pollution and flooding, and improve local stream and river health.
Supported by the City’s Stormwater Management Utility Fee, the program returns funds to the community for stormwater treatment and beautification. Native landscaping and trees also provide wildlife habitat, support pollinators, and create shade. Homeowners, renters with owner approval, and eligible nonprofit property owners can participate.
