Description
The Chesapeake Bay Trust partners with the City of Rockville to offer rebates for small-scale stormwater projects on private properties. The program supports rain barrels, cisterns, conservation landscaping, rain gardens, tree canopy, green roofs, pavement removal, and permeable pavers. These practices capture rooftop rainwater, increase infiltration, replace impermeable surfaces, and use native vegetation to reduce polluted runoff reaching local streams, rivers, and the Chesapeake Bay.
The program aims to reduce pollution and flooding, create wildlife habitat, and improve community quality of life. Funding comes from Rockville’s Stormwater Management Utility Fee. Reimbursement focuses on a project’s stormwater functions, rather than decorative or structural features that do not contribute directly to stormwater treatment.
