Akron Community Foundation’s Civic Affairs Grants support economic growth and civic engagement in Summit County. Part of the foundation’s quarterly Community Fund grantmaking, the program seeks to strengthen neighborhoods, infrastructure, and the economy through work that engages residents, improves the environment, promotes recreation, and attracts people and businesses to the region. Community Fund grants aim to address root causes and create lasting, systemic change.

Supported work includes job creation, workforce development, minority entrepreneurship, crime prevention, and reentry support for former offenders. Other priorities include urban land renewal, energy-efficient home repairs for elderly and low-income residents, environmental protection, public space improvements, community service, beautification, parks, and environmental education. The foundation generally prefers program or project requests, while also welcoming operating and other requests addressing pressing community needs.
