Description
The Washington State Department of Transportation’s Local Programs office supports local initiatives that establish or expand civilian interventions for nonmoving violations. The program focuses on practical, nonpunitive ways to help low-income road users address vehicle equipment failures. Examples include helmet vouchers, fee offsets, fix-it tickets, repair vouchers, and other related safety interventions.
WSDOT prioritizes locally developed proposals, including programs involving community-led organizations. It encourages applicants to use equity-specific data and consider equity-related safety risks when developing their plans, recognizing that traditionally disadvantaged populations are disproportionately affected in many communities.
