Summary: Supports a Georgia local law enforcement bait-car project to prevent and investigate motor vehicle theft and related insurance fraud.
Key Information: Only Georgia county and municipal governments applying on behalf of their law enforcement agencies are eligible.
The Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC), on behalf of the Georgia Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Advisory Board, offers a GEICO-donated vehicle for a local law enforcement bait-car project. The National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) facilitates the vehicle transfer. Projects may establish a new operation or expand an existing program, addressing a documented local motor vehicle theft problem and a gap in available resources.
The selected recipient may also receive state First Responder grant funds to outfit the vehicle. CJCC administers the application process and any subsequent outfitting award, while the Advisory Board reviews proposals and recommends support to the Council. Vehicle acceptance and transfer are governed by a separate NICB donation agreement, distinct from any CJCC funding agreement.
