Description
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources administers Clean Diesel Grant Programs to reduce diesel emissions from public and private vehicle fleets across Wisconsin. Through the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA), EPA provides allocations to participating states and territories for diesel-emissions reduction programs. Wisconsin DNR publishes program summary reports and past grantee lists documenting its state program’s activity.
DNR also publicizes the separate 2026 EPA DERA National Program, a competitive opportunity to accelerate upgrades, retrofits, and retirement of the nation’s aging diesel fleet. The national program supports cleaner engines and verified technologies for highway vehicles, buses, locomotives, marine engines, and nonroad equipment. The current federal deadlines, funding, eligibility, and submission requirements below apply to that EPA competition, not to a new Wisconsin DNR state competition.
