Description
Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, delivers this competition with Department for Transport funding through the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE). The Deployment trials strand supports industrial research and experimental development that develops, tests and deploys innovative clean maritime technologies in operational settings. Technologies may serve vessels, maritime infrastructure, or both.
The programme aims to accelerate maritime decarbonisation and establish the UK as a global leader in clean maritime technology design and manufacturing. Projects must demonstrate significant potential to reduce well-to-wake greenhouse gas emissions, address relevant environmental risks, and create commercial value for the UK. Unlike the separate pre-deployment and feasibility strands, this strand requires a meaningful real-world demonstration lasting at least six weeks.
