Description
Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, delivers this competition with funding from the Department for Transport (DfT). The pre-deployment trials strand supports industrial research that designs, develops and tests innovative clean maritime technologies without deploying them in an operational environment. Projects can address on-vessel technologies, maritime infrastructure, or both, and must support significant reductions in maritime well-to-wake greenhouse gas emissions.
The competition forms part of the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE) programme, which aims to establish UK leadership in clean maritime technology design and manufacturing and accelerate maritime decarbonisation. Projects must combine meaningful testing with a credible route to future deployment, commercialisation and UK economic benefit. Deployment trials and primarily desk-based feasibility studies belong in separate strands.
