Description
Kentucky’s Clean Vessel Act Grant Program is administered by the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) using federal funds. Established in 1992 to reduce pollution from boat sewage discharges, the program helps public and private marinas across Kentucky construct, renovate, operate, and maintain pumpout and portable dump stations. Funding is competitive and focuses on facilities that provide public benefits.
Eligible work extends beyond pumpout and dump stations to floating restrooms and infrastructure or services needed to hold and transport sewage. This includes holding tanks, piping, haulage costs, and bleed-in facilities. The program does not support enforcement, upland restroom construction or renovation, or construction, renovation, operation, or maintenance of on-site sewage treatment plants, including package treatment plants and septic systems.
