Description
The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, administers this program established under the federal 1992 Clean Vessel Act. It helps Oklahoma marina owners provide accessible wastewater services for recreational boaters with marine holding tanks, preventing raw sewage from entering waterways.
Supported work includes pump-out stations and boats, dump stations, holding tanks, and qualifying floating restrooms. The program also supports construction, renovation, operation, maintenance, sewage transport, and activities needed for treatment plants to accept vessel sewage. Education projects can inform boaters about pollution from sewage discharges and the locations of pump-out and dump stations. Annual funding comes from the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund.
