Description
The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), through its Nonpoint Source Program, administers this competitive grant under Section 319(h) of the Clean Water Act. The program supports reductions in nutrient and sediment loads in Delaware’s impaired waterbodies. Projects may address pollution from agriculture, silviculture, construction, marinas, septic systems, and hydromodification.
Supported approaches include best management practices such as stream restoration, grass and riparian buffers, wetland creation or restoration, and cover crops, alongside outreach and education addressing nonpoint source pollution. Projects must measure their effectiveness through appropriate environmental results, such as estimated pollutant reductions or documented educational engagement. Priority goes to impaired watersheds with approved watershed implementation plans, with additional consideration of where projects can most effectively reduce pollution.
