Description
Clean Water Indiana (CWI) supports Indiana conservation groups and Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) in reducing sediment, nutrients, and other nonpoint sources of water pollution. The Indiana State Department of Agriculture’s Division of Soil Conservation administers the program under the direction of the State Soil Conservation Board (SSCB).
Competitive grants support locally driven work involving education, livestock, row crops, conservation practices, and district capacity. Funded activities include technical assistance and project coordination staff, equipment available to landowners, cost sharing, field days, and outreach. Urban sediment and nutrient reduction practices and conservation practices or soil and water laboratory analysis within research projects are eligible. Proposals must address at least two priority resource concerns in the SSCB business plan.
