Description
The California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA) administers the Clear Lake Rehabilitation Grant Program. Clear Lake faces harmful algal blooms, mercury contamination associated with legacy mining, agricultural runoff, and development. These pressures affect human and animal health, habitat, water treatment costs, and the local economy, as well as resources important to seven local California Native American tribes.
The Blue Ribbon Committee for the Rehabilitation of Clear Lake develops cleanup and economic revitalization strategies. It evaluates and recommends projects reflecting local priorities, environmental needs, and scientific research. Proposition 4 funding is directed toward improving the climate resilience of, or protecting, the Clear Lake watershed.
