Description
The Cancer Research Institute’s Clinic and Laboratory Integration Program (CLIP) supports team-based investigations connecting laboratory discovery with clinical application in cancer immunology. Each funding cycle targets a scientific theme where focused investment can accelerate progress. The 2027 theme is primary and secondary cancer prevention and interception: preventing initial cancer development and recurrence after successful treatment.
Research interests include mechanisms driving early tumorigenesis and premalignant progression, inflammatory pathways, the tumor microenvironment, and immune evasion. Projects may integrate preclinical models with high-dimensional analysis of human tissues, including longitudinal samples from high-risk cohorts. Additional objectives may include advanced imaging and single-cell sequencing, immune dysfunction and stromal changes, testing interventions in mouse models, organoids or tissue slices, and validating biomarkers or technologies. Preclinical proposals should identify a clear path toward implementation and patient benefit.
