Mayo Clinic’s Clinical Chemistry Postdoctoral Fellowship is a two-year training program in Rochester, Minnesota, offered through its School of Graduate Medical Education. Fellows combine structured clinical laboratory learning with translational and clinical research, quality improvement, and hands-on development of diagnostic tests. The program focuses on translating chemical, molecular, and cellular measurements into information that helps clinicians diagnose disease, assess its extent, and evaluate responses to therapy.

Training takes place in one of the nation’s largest reference laboratories, with experience advising providers on test selection and interpretation. Fellows rotate through clinical chemistry specialties before assuming supervised “acting laboratory director” responsibilities in their second year. Faculty help tailor training to individual career goals, including hospital laboratory leadership and developmental scientist or management roles in diagnostic-related companies.
