Description
The Clinical Early Career Research Fellowship from the British Heart Foundation (BHF) is designed to support resident doctors in higher specialist clinical training who already hold (or have submitted) a PhD or MDRes. The scheme enables these clinicians to secure protected postdoctoral research time, helping them build research experience and competitiveness in cardiovascular medicine while continuing clinical training. Fellows benefit from flexible arrangements (20–50% FTE for up to 4 years, or up to 12 months full-time if out of programme), mentorship, skill development, and the option to spend time at other UK or overseas institutions. The fellowship aims to foster the next generation of clinical academics working in the cardiovascular field.
