Description
This fellowship is designed to empower clinician scientists to transition to independent research leadership in the field of cancer. It provides long-term, flexible funding and career development support to enable outstanding clinical academics to establish themselves as leaders in cancer research. The scheme supports a broad range of cancer-relevant research, including basic, translational, imaging, radiotherapy, engineering and physical sciences, population research, and early detection. Strategic priorities include early detection, prevention, cancers of unmet need, and research involving children and young people. Fellows must remain clinically active and receive robust institutional support, including a clear route to a tenured or open-ended salaried research position. Flexible and part-time working is supported.
