Description
Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Clinical Research Award supports ambitious investigator-led studies that generate biological and clinical evidence to advance dementia therapies. Part of the Clinical Accelerator Programme, it funds experimental medicine studies, including phase 1b/2a trials, and added-value sub-studies across all clinical trial phases. Its priorities include treatments, preventative interventions and innovative approaches to intercept disease progression in people at increased risk of dementia.
Studies should connect biological investigation with clinical intervention, assessing matters such as target engagement, brain penetrance and disease biomarkers. Supported work also includes trial development, coordinated biobanking, high-value data collection and long-term follow-up. The scheme welcomes collaboration across academia, clinical practice, industry and patient communities, alongside data sharing and integration across studies.
