Description
The American Academy of Neurology’s Clinical Research Training Scholarship encourages early-career investigators to pursue academic careers in neurological research. It supports patient-oriented research with human subjects and translational research specifically designed to develop treatments or enhance diagnosis. Eligible work includes epidemiologic and behavioral studies, clinical trials, disease mechanisms, new technologies, and health services and outcomes research.
Disease-related studies without direct involvement of humans or human tissue are also encouraged when their primary goal is developing therapies, diagnostic tests, or tools to prevent or mitigate neurological disease. Research training and strong mentorship are central to the scholarship. Review emphasizes research quality, originality, innovation, significance, and the applicant’s promise as a clinician-scientist. AAN also affirms diversity, equity, and inclusiveness within its research program.
